Yes, the receptive language issues are causing problems all over the place, so I appreciate your counsel to get this taken care of as a top priority.
About the school, we are looking at maybe getting private speech and language therapy several times a week, in addition to whatever else we do for school, if she doesn't go to the s/l school, and at this stage it seems that health insurance may cover some of it. I still have to look into the whole thing, and as I mentioned, this seems like Mt. Everest to me, like an additional full time job on top of my several other full time jobs as a home schooling mother.
And about the ADD, no she isn't on any meds for that, no one ever mentioned it (except me a couple of times when I was at my wits end with her, and it made her cry). I wonder how I was chosen to have a child like this, since I am fumbling so very much, not sure which direction to go in, and she is almost 15 and hasn't gotten much help yet. It was hard enough when we thought the dyslexia and the processing speed and executive functioning were the problem, now with the speech/language issues, this is a whole new world that I know nothing about. I feel paralyzed by it. I guess like you said, if we work on the receptive language thing as a priority, that will take care of many other issues.
Thank you for your thoughts; I appreciate it!
