I've not done Feingold, but have done GFCF and SCD. The thing to really remember about food is that it's not that big a deal. Changing what you or your family eats for a few weeks or months will not hurt anyone. When I started out with my kids, we just said we were going to eat a little more healthy. We stopped buying foods that came in boxes and cans. What we bought out of the freezer aisle was "plain". Frozen peas with nothing added. Shop the edges, fruit, veggies, meat, etc.
I'd say, pick something, take it out of the child's diet for a few weeks and watch carefully to see if they have a change. If they change for the better, keep it out and try eliminating another food. If you've tried eliminating some foods and nothing has changed, than food is probably not the cause. I'd also start with things that filter out of the body quickly and are easy to spot on labels. Wheat, for example is tricky. It is in a lot of items but listed as something else--like natural flavoring.
Hope it helps. The longer you do it, the easier it gets.
