Thnking of homeschooling my 7th grader

We've just completed the first quarter of 7th grade and I'm seriously considering withdrawing my son from regular school and homeschooling him. I know the "Well Trained Mind" talks about this age being the - Logic stage: Is starting now going to create a gap in my son's knowledge? What about the parts of the logic curriculum we've missed? Any input will help me in making my decision. Thank you.
