and books by Gail Gibbons!

For example, one book in the LRAFOS series is called "The Planets in Our Solar System" that deals with the solar system from a very introductory point of view, or "You're Aboard Spaceship Earth," which introduces the idea that the earth floats in space.

Gail Gibbons has illustrated and written over a hundred (I think books about science for young children, and she tackles things like the moon's phases (The Moon Book) and the solar system (The Planets) and the earth's tilt on its axis (The Reason fo Seasons).

When my two-year-old figured out that if the earth was a ball and the moon was a ball farther away, the moon couldn't be "in the sky", I also used several webpages with animations I searched for online to show the earth-moon-sun realtionship. *g* Don't discount the power of the web!
