Like KPzz said, this is normal for them.
The boys are starting LC1 sometime this month. We went FAR TOO SLOWLY through PL, and ds got quite frustrated with me (and with the program) when he had the endings, but no coverage of stems with which to put them all together. So he would make them up and ask if he was right. Oh boy! Time to get more meat.
I think we'll actually switch to Latin for Children for our oldest (he'll be 7 this week), as it's written more in tune with "the way he learns" than the LC series is. But we loved PL, and look forward to LC for the other son (5).
Just go. To keep w/ the rebel imagery, it's easy once you get on the accelerated bike and ride!
