the gifted child puts a great deal of physical and emotional energy into developing in certain areas. Therefore, the brain may not be developing in other areas as rapidly. This is perfectly normal for them.
His recommendation is just to keep gently plugging away at the issues that concern us and try to work towards a well rounded child. Gifted children just see the world a little differently than others and this can make them appear immature or abnormal. He feels that most will not have difficulties in adulthood. The difficulty now is in the misperceptions of others. But, there isn't any harm in addressing something that you think could be an issue later.
