. . . and connections to reality didn't seem to matter a whole lot. And, in her case, indulging and feeding that early interest didn't seem to do her any harm. She's now 10, doing high school level work and planning on a career in -- you guessed it -- anthropology/archaeology.
I'd say just provide lots of cool resources and experiences and let him take it as far as he likes. Honestly, how can it hurt?
