We did Prima right around the time ds turned 5 (mostly before his actual birthday) and took about 9 weeks at what seemed like a "comfortable" pace of about 10 minutes of Latin a day. (And we did learn the prayers and everything.) We went straight into LC1, and much of LC1 is review of PL. That was actually really *good*. Because though it was review, it required ds to *apply* the concepts more. I don't think that, as a newly-turned 5yo, he could have done LC without the background that PL provided, so I have absolutely no regrets about doing it.
We're doing LC2 this year. At this point, we're certainly slowing down a bit from the crazy pace we set last year. But we've thoroughly enjoyed Latin. :o)
