and I think in our case it's genetic. Both my husband and I were the same way -- we grew more slowly and matured later than other children. I don't know if it has anything to do with giftedness or not, since my second child is only average in many areas.
Some people might say -- and there might well be truth in this -- that because a child's brain is working hard and developing fast, other areas slow down and then catch up later. I just don't know.
I've found maturity is a thing that simply can't be forced. You just have to wait and keep your expectations low until they're ready.
