I actually have a dd like this, and I have been through it with a dear frined with her ds. It helps to look at what you want down the line. Do you want them writing a lot every year, or would you rather focus on the basics now, with less actual writing, and then increase it when the physical part is easier? I really don't care if my dd can write a full page (or a paragraph) now, so long as she can write well by the time she graduates. I have a few recommendations that helped us: (1.) SWB's writing tape has *lots* of good info on writing with boys, (2.) we use IEW to remove the creative element from the mechanics element, (3.) copying someone else's good sentences, even if it is a few (or one) a day, is very worthwhile. I loathe "creative writing" assignments. I require none, adn now my little resistant-writer is creating her own stories (gasp!) and I can see her implementing things I taught her (though she would never admit it, lol.)
