My 12-yr-old, 7th grade daughter has the opportunity to take the SAT this December, in conjunction with the Duke TIP program. She flatly refuses to do so ("I don't want the high school kids to see me in there taking the test with them ...") I have even offered to drive her to a more distant testing location where she is far less likely to be recognized, to no avail. So your responses have helped me take a deep breath and be able to say, OK, we can pass on this one.
Not that an awful lot of 7th-graders can and will benefit from the experience, the recognition, and the practice. But we'll also be all right without it, small sigh from Mom. --KPzz
