I used the textbook for "together lessons" between Mom and Child. The workbook exercises provided opportunities for independent work, which I found very worthwhile. It's up to your gut instinct, of course, as Beth says below. You may want to shorten the "together work" or the workbook problems if they seem too simple and your student can complete them virtually flawlessly while saying he's bored -- in other words, move more quickly and require less busywork. But I think that the discussions together followed by independent practice are a good idea. --KPzz
