Hi!
I don't think I've ever actually posted on this board. I'm in my fourth year of homeschooling, with three boys, ages 15, 12 and 9, all with IQs in the gifted range. Whoa! That seems really weird to state that right out loud! I've always kept that dirty little secret to myself as much as possible.
My 12 year old is somewhat advanced in math. Right now he is doing Jacobs Geometry, having done Jacobs Algebra last year. When our pediatrician discovered this, he strongly encouraged us to have ds take the SAT test now, before he turns 13, through Johns Hopkins talent search. He said that this would give him opportunities for college scholarships, should he score highly enough. (700+)
OK. This is something I've never heard of. Husband and I checked the website and didn't see anything that would suggest that scholarships might turn up. I saw some discussion about talent searches below, and am hoping that some of you with some experience in this area can advise me. I have no ego involved in having smart children, and can't imagine having their picture put in the paper! Euwwww! The only reason I would do this would be for a chance at free college. Can anyone advise me? Thank you for your help. Anita
