I had a horrible scared feeling that I would let my daughter down when she was tested at school...

Since she has been at home I have found that I have a sort of sixth sense about what she needs. She has an amazing memory. She can memorize a sonnet in half an hour and recall it for as long as I ask her. I am very wary of abusing this talent however and I am careful to listen to the sort of books she wants to read and getting resources for all the subjects she wishes to pursue.
I have to be careful to give her very accurate answers to her questions because she will correct me very quickly or 'find me out' later.
I have discovered Wikipedia recently which is a wonderful place to send her when I haven't a clue (which is often).
I do believe that all children are gifted in some way. I think it is the way of nature. My other child doesn't appear to have the incredible memory of his older sister but when it comes to electronics he leaves me way behind. Ditto, with him I am careful to let him have the resources he needs; not transfer my ignorance and just point him in the right direction and my DH takes over this aspect of his education when he can.
