My 2nd grader is into space right now. He has read all the space science books I had for the second half of the school year (including the library options). He's gone up to the 8th grade level with them any more is just out of his mental processing ability. He also loves anything Latin oriented... not much at our library for that.

What I really need for him is new ideas that might interest him.

My K/1st by isn't much interested in anything other then Spongebob and Spiders. We've researched just about every sea creature related to sponges and every spider book we could find in the library in the Juvenile section. I don't have many spider books at home, those we do have he's read and reread 50 or more times.

We have to have a certain amount of hours per. week to count toward the end of the school year. It averages out to 5 hours a day for my 2nd grader. I can count all the fun school stuff we do like Latin, and Edutainment stuff like Math games, I count our cooking lessons and other life skills, but I'm still shy a couple hours worth of countable school work, not necessarily structured just countable. Science experiments are out because we just can't afford the materials right now (for the ones left in their books).
