I kind of had a feeling Singapore would be mentioned. I vaguely remember Singapore being mentioned before as a recommendation for kids that do well with math concepts. I guess I need to take a second look at it! It it cheap enough that I could probably get a copy and "test drive" it for awhile. Would it be possible to get the story problem challenge book (or whatever the official title it) and use it as a supplement to BJU? Or has anyone else ever tried to combine the two programs in some way?
Also, the idea of doing 2 programs is an interesting one. Again, maybe I could somehow mesh BJU and Singapore?
The chapter test idea may be what I do for this next BJU chapter. I was quizzing my ds on his mulitplication 2,3, and 5 facts today and he got them all right. This is all that BJU covers in the next chapter so I think we'd be okay to skip it. I guess I'm just afraid of skipping it and then missing out on some fundamental explanation that will hinder him in the future. But I really, really think he has a complete grasp on what it means to multiply so I don't really know what I could be missing (just trying to convince myself here!).
Thanks everyone for their suggestions! It is nice to know there is a board like this where I can go for support. I never thought trying to hs a child who is accelerated would be such a stressful job. I always figured it would make it easier because then we'd never have to worry about being "behind". But as my husband reminded me, our primary reason for hs our son is so that he can accelerate and thrive at the things he is good at, rather than being forced to work at the level of those around him.
