Advice on starting first grade early

I have not used any particular curriculum or text in the past but my dd, who just turned five, is mostly on a first grade level. We intend to follow WTM but I have read some posts which caution against starting early and I am looking ahead to this fall. I am seeking advice as to what others have done in similar situations. I do need to say, though, that my dd seems to be more comfortable in a relaxed setting that is literature based and hands on, but sitting for long periods of time will not work. This is a maturity issue, I believe, and the "seatwork" will come in time. This is why I ask this question. She is academically capable of advancing, but I do not want her to feel so challenged that she becomes frustrated and no longer likes learning. On the other hand I risk boring her by not giving her new material. I have considered simply doing more of the same thing we've been doing (which is just an interdisciplinary thematic approach) on a bit higher level and introducing a first grade math text and more structured reading lessons and leaving WTM for another year. Her only area of concern is handwriting, in which she is just now beginning to show some progress. Are there advantages/disadvantages in your experience to following the WTM curriculum a year early?

Thanks in advance,
Ashley
