They'll let you know. Find something that interests your little one.
My son started reading within a week or two of his third birthday. Instead of drills, all I did was use the moving finger, word by word. His uncle purchased a book on insects, and since my son loved bugs, it served as an excellent portal. Insects were presented by color (black for ants, red for butterflies, etc.), and since most colors tend to be monosyllabic, it was simple to point and sound out letter by letter. Within a few weeks, he beat me to the punch, whenever I pointed to a color word.
