FWIW many testers aren't taught to do that

My dd was tested by a graduate student and when I questioned whether the GAI might be a better measure to report, she and her graduate advisor didn't know what I was talking about. Even when I had them look it up, they insisted that the IQ was the most accurate measure. DD has a 56(!) point spread between her lowest subscore (processing speed) and her highest.

In dd I worried a bit about what that discrepancy meant, considered further testing, and then just decided to forget about it. The numbers we had gave her access to the gifted programs we needed and she doesn't have any learning difficulties that keep her from excelling there. She *does* seem to struggle with spelling and have some auditory processing issues, but right now they aren't getting in her way. We aren't going to chase after answers that won't make an appreciable difference in her life.
