I don't know that there's really any auditory component to either of those -- it's visual (matching) and fine-motor (marking). DS had a rather wide spread on his scores too (WISC, not WPPSI), with everything high except the processing speed, but the tester reported that he was double checking everything before he marked it, and when speed counts that's not a good thing.... I do wonder sometimes if a retest on some kind of a video game would render a faster processing speed ;) But he has always been a kid who slows down as soon as there's a pencil in his hand.
Also, I think we have entirely ruled out CAPD with DS -- unrelated to that testing, but via a research study he participated in with the local university audiologists that had all the researchers standing around oohing and ahhing over his scores on auditory discrimination, performance with poor quality sounds (like static-y or garbled I think) and listening to two signals at the same time. The head guy said to me, "He must hear every word you say!" LOL Somehow it doesn't quite work that way ;)
