Bummer! I can't post on the special needs board. Processing/APD question.

My dd5 was recently given the WPPSI III (IQ test for 4-7 year olds) and the discrepancy in her processing IQ to her verbal/performance IQ indicates a problem. My question is how much of a problem is it?

Her processing score is in the normal range but because it is 21 points below her performance IQ and 35 points below her verbal IQ it seems to me that this might be a pretty severe processing problem even though it doesn't show up as a problem in reading or math -- at least not yet.

DD5 is an early and fluent reader/speller, etc. and doesn't seem to have problems determining sounds or anything like that so I'm not sure what to make of this or if I need to do anything with this weakness. We do see weaknesses in getting info out of her brain (I'm sure there's a better way to word that) so I do agree with the test I'm just not sure what it means.

I don't think I have the resources to investigate an in detail APD evaluation but if you think I should I'll see what I can do.

Thanks so much for reading this and for any help you may be able to offer.
