There isn't a right or wrong answer to your situation. Here are some of my opinions/ideas.
First, I wouldn't hold him back in the Singapore workbooks. He obviously has the concepts down. Singapore introduces some subjects in unique ways, so I would try to make sure that you cover that with him in some way. I would let him move forward as quickly as he can. There MAY be a time when he will slow down a bit.
Second, I get the impression that he likes using manipulatives. Miquon books might be a good fit for him. I would let him work through them in any order--and just the pages that catch his interest.
At 5.5 years, I think that math should still be fun. Use games and manipulatives and spend just a small amount of time teaching.
Also, he doesn't need to have his math facts down cold to move into 1B, that will come as he does more work. I think my dd finally had them down by the end of 2B.
