?'s about "Writing" for my overzealous 7yo (m)

My ds7 finished WS2 last year. It was by far too easy. But I had no real idea of where he was in his writing process then, and he seemed to enjoy it for the most part.

We did WS2 very quickly and skipped steps when appropriate. For example exercise #5 asked ds to write "I study reading.", "I study spelling.", "I study arithmetic." While ds can already naturally very sentences. So I adapted to meet his writing level in relation to what the exercise was trying to teach.

He did each exercise in about 20 min. rather then over 4 days, without loosing any of the concepts.

I just can't decide how to proceed. Writing is not one of my strengths.

So do we go ahead and do WS2 now? Wait on it until he's 8 (scope suggestion)?

Here is what he's already doing this year.

1. 5th grade grammar which takes him 10-15 minutes a week (should take him 3 times that long)
2. Latin vocabulary roots which also takes about 15 minutes a week
3. copy work (cursive),
4. dictation,
5. narrations,
6. book reports (for science),
7. free writing
8. journaling
9. anchor for an on-line news program
10. writing a picture book
*These are not done every day and 7-10 are things he does at his request.

But he wants more "writing". Should I go ahead and move on with the ultra boring (to me) WS or use something else? It seems to be the way he processes.

His writing mechanics are excellent. He does tend to take his time. Taking an hour to read and write a 1 page narrative for SOTW2. But in comparison to children in grammar school he is writing at about a 4th or 5th grade level (penmanship and length wise).

So I'd just like to know what you all would do. To get a bit of a better idea on how to proceed.

Thank you.
