I don't consider the food to be more expensive. I highly doubt our leftovers or quick sandwiches or pita pizzas cost me what it would cost me to buy 3 school lunches per day, per child, nor does it cost me what I'd spend to box them up a lunch with all the little quickie foods that would go in it.
I do figure our electricity costs are higher because we're all here, and I do prepare several meals daily. In addition, the computers are on all day for school, internet, etc. so that adds up too.
Our gas isn't a factor either, as the private school would eat it up for me due to traveling there and back twice/day (no buses, and I wouldn't want my kids riding them if there were).
IDK - I guess because we have always home schooled, I can't see the hidden costs. Maybe if we had experienced both, I'd be more inclined to pay attention!
