You know, we bought the Frigidaire "laundry center" - it's a one-piece stacked set. (m)

We really love it. It's got a compact footprint, but it's not a "small" washer or dryer. I can wash a lot of jeans in one load (twelve pairs - two adults and four children). Being a front loader, it really spins things out well, and uses a fraction of the water of a top loader. (Had it a year here in AL, and no problems with the mildew smell others have mentioned in theirs.) The delicate cycle has been kind to my less rugged attire. The heavy cycle does a beautiful job on my whites. It doesn't have a lot of the bells and whistles that the higher end models have (like a "sanitize" setting, for example), but we do your basic, family-style laundry and it works well for us.

The one and only complaint I had was the buzzers. They're quite loud - which is great if you'll be away and would like to catch the wash right when it finishes. And they're different enough that you can tell which is which (washer buzzes longer). BUT, for us, I don't really care when it's done. I'll get to it when I get it to. Plus, the utility closet is in the hall, directly across from the baby's room. She can sleep through anything except a skill saw and those buzzers. And there is NO off switch. Anywhere. I called the Sears guy out, he checked it out and said he's not allowed to tamper with it. Then he fixed it for me, anyway. :-) I love that man. (And I can now walk anyone through disconnecting the buzzer on it! LOL!)

Anyway, we've put it through some serious paces this year, and it's held its own quite well. I'd buy it again in a heartbeat. It was also one of the few stackables we found that's Energy Star qualified.

Good luck w/ your move!
Dy
