our local homeschool group is considering becoming an official NPO and opening a small bookstore/used curriculum store/library/classrooms/fellowship area type of facility to serve homeschoolers in the area.
I know that there are restrictions on how it must operate, but after reading the IRS publication of "unrelated business" i think i am even more confused over what would really qualify and what all they can/can't do. i don't want to see this get messed up, so if anyone would be willing to let me soak up some info and ask some questions, could you email me?
I'm scouting around locally to find some professionals that are familiar w/ what NPO's can do, but we are still at the beginning planning stages, just researching right now.
I *know* it's not easy, but we have a lot of moms who have shown a sincere interest in following thru w/ what our group does, so it might be a ripe time to pursue the idea.
