How about starting the tradition of a wooden birthday ring? You could give the ring (and maybe one decorative piece), then add a piece each year for your niece or nephew. Here's an example of what I'm talking about:

Or, since the baby is due in December, perhaps you could start a tradition of always giving the child a special ornament from you, so that he (she) would have a set to take w/ him when he leaves home.

A special storybook w/ a nice inscription? (Including your name too & the date.) And, continue the tradition each year....

Were there any special games/toys/memories that you & your brother have? Perhaps you could do something related to a theme like that too.
