We were at a family picnic for my dh's work (which has people from all branches of service, as well as a ton of civilians). The different divisions were competing in a trivial pursuit type game, and the lady moderating read out the question, "What is the Navy hymn?"

Everyone was kind of stumped; there was all this murmuring. I told my husband that I thought it was "Eternal Father, Strong to Save", so he went up to the guy that was playing for his division and told him. The guy said that as his answer, and the lady said in a "you're all such silly gooses" voice, "No! It's 'Anchors Away'!" Everyone looked at her and said, almost in unison, "That's not a hymn!" I laughed pretty hard--if you can't tell a hymn from a drinking song . . . well, that's saying something! LOL!

(And for anyone who may not know the words to the song, here they are--imagine this as a hymn!)

Anchors aweigh, my boys,
Anchors aweigh,
Farewell to college joys,
We sail at break of day
Through our last night on shore,
Drink to the foam,
Until we meet once more,
Here's wishing you a happy voyage home.
