... you need to either *always* "give in" and have a plan for co-sleeping, or you need to *never* give in and devise a plan for sleeping in his own bed, all night long.
Otherwise, you are TRAINING him to scream. Because intermittent rewards (which is what he's getting from you now) is the absolute Best way to train.
Do you have a fold out couch? If you do decide to co-sleep, is there any way you can just use that for you and him?
If you decide to train him, I'd take a look a Ferber's book again (Solve Your Child's Sleep Problems). It's probably controversial even here, but it gave our family wonderful peace and staved off lots of angry nights and days. And it only took a week. Oh, and warn the neighbors!
