My uncle (about 10 years younger than your dad) has bladder cancer but they did a surgery and he just goes in for checks ... it hasn't really affected anything in his life at all. It sounds like you're talking about something more severe.

Are you an only child? If not, what are your siblings' position(s) on this next stage of your parents' life? Do you live in a large enough house that they could live with you or maybe one of your siblings? Do they have any savings that would enable them to move in someplace, preferably close to you (or again one of your siblings)?

I'm so sad you're in this position. It's so hard. Without knowing more about your dad's situation, I don't know what to tell you. Definitely check out hospice in your area (they're not all about the last few days), I'm sure they'll have some resources for you to call.
