These are the same people that installed our a/c system when our house was built, and we do yearly maintenance agreements with them. Finding local contracters to do something like this is virtually impossible in post-Katrina New Orleans, so while I understand that's a perfect solution for most people, it's not going to work here. All the local sole proprietors are busy with much, much bigger jobs and aren't taking on "small stuff" such as this.

The a/c guys also told us that our attic being so hot is contributing to the problem, and that a powered vent would help a great deal - but they don't do that, and again, getting someone to come out and install something like that is pretty much impossible. I guess I'm going to have them replace the fan coil for $2100 and hope for the best! I might call a few other local a/c places tomorrow to see if they can give me an estimate over the phone - but if they can't, I need to go ahead and set this up. Our a/c isn't working too well, and it's HOT!
