You know, like "Bob's HVAC" or something like that. Both Lowe's and HD big us ridiculously high numbers, even after we explained that we only wanted x,y,z. That, they decided *was* for only x,y... *sigh*
We ended up calling a local sole proprietor, had a great rapport, got good quality service and at a very decent price. He also knew of a few tips and tricks "around" the business that saved us a bundle. We paid $2400 for new inside/outside units, high efficiency dual fuel system, a couple of vents added in the basement, UV light, and electronic media filter. You need far less done than that (the compressor, which is on the outside unit, isn't it, is probably THE most expensive part in the whole stinking system *sigh*) but I would still imagine you could find a better deal than $2100 for just an inside unit.
Ugh. Good luck. I told Zorak last week that this fourth of July was SO much more pleasant than last year. He snorted and pointed out that we have a/c this year. Ohhhhh. Yeah, huh? lol. Well, yes, that did make a difference. I hope you get it fixed soon.
