Trying again--question about encyclopedias (m)

I missed a chance to get Encyclopedia Britannica off of Craigslist for $30 a few months ago.

Now there is a set by Grolier called Academic American Encyclopedia set by Grolier--the Deluxe Library Edition--for $25. I've never heard of that "kind," though.

Are there some you like better than others? Am I better off waiting until a World Book set shows up cheap? Or a set by some other publisher?
