We were supposed to have our a/c coils removed and cleaned today, but the repair guy said the coils are very rusty, and he recommends just replacing the entire unit. It was $475 to clean the coils, and he quoted us $2100 for a new inside unit. I'm exhausted, our a/c really isn't working well, and we're about to go out of town. SO - for those of you who have had their central a/c's replaced, can you tell me if $2100 sounds like a decent price for a unit which cools/heats a 2000 square foot house? We're only replacing the inside "box" - not the ductwork, outside unit, etc. I might try to call a few places tomorrow, but it's going to be difficult to get estimates without making an appointment for someone to come out and look at it. So any information you can offer would be much appreciated.
