I was able to lie down and sleep on my right side Saturday night(the night I posted), but it hurt to lie on my left side.

After the realization that I wouldn't have to pay the copay up front, I decided to go ahead and go the ER Sunday, just to be on the safe side, even though I was feeling much better.

They gave me a very thorough exam and couldn't find anything wrong with me or the baby. The ER Dr. did tell me that he could feel the muscle spasms in my back, neck and shoulders (and they were nothing in comparison to that 1st day) and gave me some muscle relaxers he assured me would be safe to take even though I'm pregnant. He did mention I might be getting a bit dehydrated, to be sure to drink at least 8 glasses of water every day, which I have been guilty of not doing.

After we got home, my dh gave me a really good back massage in the areas that were cramping and did a little rib manipulation (he's an "amateur" chiropractor) and insisted I rest all day. That night I was able to lie on either side comfortably and got a good night's rest.

I woke up yesterday morning feeling like me again, as if nothing ever happened. Apparently it was the combination of my muscle spasms(which are truly awful when they attack, but I hadn't experienced any in the last few months and was hoping it was over), a rib ending out of place, the stress and strain of pregnancy, and not getting enough fluids.

I have been happily lying on either side and not feeling that sharp sticking at the bottom of my ribs, breathing easy and trying to catch up on my housework. And through all of this the baby has been doing it's usual routine of kicking and punching and looked fine on ultrasound and heartbeat monitor.

So, we seem to be a-ok. :)

Thanks to everyone who offered advice and concern. :)
