He's social enough and likes other kids, but has never latched on to one kid as a friend. He's 14 now and seems happy with his life. He's very much an introvert, like me, and doesn't seem to need a lot of outside input. He IS close to his brothers (a twin, an older brother - by 14 months and a brother younger by 6 years).
Does your son seem happy overall? Does he complain about not having friends? If not, I wouldn't worry too much about it.
Why not skip the b-day party and do a family thing - dinner at the restaurant of his choice or putt-putt golfing or something like that?
