go with which house I loved more. The new house may cost 30K more, but the older one might cost you that and then some in repairs in the near future. If you love the older one more, make sure to have a good inspector to go over everything.
Never buy a house because there might be friends there. You never know what is or will end up next to you. Sometimes it's good, sometimes it's bad, and sometimes it's reeeeeeeeally bad. LOL
