My dh and I tried to get pregnant right away when we got married. We tried for a year and, nothing. Well the fertility doctor gave me a bunch of test and found nothing. Finally she gave me a cycle day 21 test for progesterone. My levels were about 1/3 of what was normal.
Low progesterone levels is what causes some people to miscarry during the 1st trimester, when the weight of the baby is heavy enough to pull it away from the uterus. Progesterone makes the uterine lining just right for good implantation.
For me, I'm now estrogen dominant because my progesterone levels are dropping lower and lower and lower. I can actually feel it and I feel like I'm on drugs or something. I'm seeing a doctor now to try and get hormone replacement therapy. I just turned 39 in November.
