and said they were responding to a 911 call. I must have looked perplexed because the officer asked whether I had any children in the house (apparently this happens quite often). I called for the kids and when the five of them came out to the landing the officer raised an eyebrow and asked which one had called the emergency line. My then-7yo's eyes got wide as dinnerplates...she must have thought he was magic. She insisted she thought the handset was turned off and she was just playing a game in her head. He gave her a good-natured lecture and told everyone to be good for Mom. Good guy :)
