This may sound like a strange request, but I am looking for a book that covers the history of math. (This is for me, not the kidlets.)
Earlier on this board I posted about math in the classical curriculum. I think I figured out why no one uses the ancient way of teaching math....
It's because the ancient Greeks and Romans stunk at certain operations that we now take for granted. (For example: fractions. Knowledge of fractions came from India, not the west.)
Well, duh. How in the world does one do fractions or decimals with those pesky Roman numerals???
Anyway, I am wanting to check this out further. Suggestions????
