My 7th grade dd is reading Guerbers' Story of the 13 Colonies (C. Miller version) on her own. I'd like her to write short papers about once a week on what she has read about (incl some additional research)... but it hasn't been happening. It's a new year and I'm going to try again... or have her try again. At this point she is reading about Jamestown and the beginning of the colonies. She is still used to just writing narrations of what she read but I'd like to help her move into the dialectic stage. I guess this means papers that focus more on the 'why' then just 'what' happened. Any ideas?
