...he has gotten through less than half of Lial's introductory Algebra. Math is a real block for him--he continues to struggle no matter how well the concepts are explained. Would it be wise to skip to geometry next yea, even though he hasn't finished Alg I? I'm concerned that he may have to write an ACT or SAT not too far downt he road, and won't have neough math under his belt.
His strength lies in the arts; although he professes to hate writing, and does not read much, he does write well and expressively. His passion is currently music--specifically Christian rock music--and while I am supportive of his efforts, I also insist that he cover "the basics." Problem is, I'm no longer sure just what those are! I like your block schedule, but the lit course is meant to be full year for the co-op (meeting once a week); and just how much history would he cover in one semester? Should I just plain skip the idea of revisitng world history at the rhetoric level?
