Has your ds had a decent amount of Latin to count as foreign language? If so, he can drop the French and take it in college if he's interested. If it's absolutely necessary to keep in his high school schedule, then you'll have to fit it in somewhere.
You said that your ds writes well. Take formal grammar lessons off his plate (unless he's begging to do it ;-).
With the schedule being as tight as it is, logic isn't a necessary course to do for those last two years either.
Fold in geography lessons with the history by doing map work and such to go with the lessons. This way you can cover the text in detail throughout the two years AND have him learn the geography at the same time.
Your ds has five electives in his already tight schedule: art history, drama, choir, guitar lessons and karate. Have him choose maybe 2-3 of them and drop the others. Part of high school education is learning time management when there seems to be too much to do.
I know what you are going through. I have been working for the past couple of weeks on my oldest dd's schedule for grades 11 and 12. There are only so many hours in each school year. As much as my perfectionist personality would like my dd to study EVERYTHING before I graduate her, there simply is not enough time to cover it all so we must pick and choose those courses which are most needful for *this* time of her life.
My dd's electives for her last two years will have to be fitted in during the weekend hours. The rest of it can be pursued in college and throughout the rest of her life. I am finally on the tail-end of our scheduling. It's been hard.
HTH some,
Anna
