the program, written for adult learners, teaches spelling via five principles: see the word, think the word, feel the word, say the word, & build the word. Included are other techniques for learning proper spelling such as:

Use colored pencils to underline difficult parts, separate words into syllables, underline or circle the difficult. Writing a word's correct spelling quickly while looking at the *picture* of the word.

Using yellow poster board & index cards to make words stand out as you learn & or review them.

Taking dictation of passages which include spelling words

tracing words

correct pronounciation of words & how it affects spelling

syllabication

Phonics

Word associations

There are plenty of lessons, plus additional lists & dictation exercises found in the appendix for basic, average, advanced, & National Spelling Bee words--totaling over 2500 words ( including favorite).

Ds and I each spend about 10 minutes a day on our own lessons (I'm using the program, too).

We found a copy at a second-hand store & purchased another copy off Ebay for $3.00 ppd. I don't think the book retails for more than $10.00 new.

Your library may have the book for you to review for use with dd.
