I've been considering buying Lial's for quite a while, but I haven't been able to lay my hands on a copy for pre-examination. I HATE books with cluttered pages filled with pictures and sidebars. Please tell me more about what specifically your daughter objected to with the Lial page layout. I own Jacob's and like that page layout, but think it is too inductive a presentation for my son, who isn't particularly math oriented.
