I made the mistake of going to Disney World on Presidant's Day weekend. Big mistake! The big Daytona races were going on, so folks from all over the country were there. I guess they came early to go to the Magic Kingdom, and then the next day they went to the races.
I also went in October, but public schools in Tennessee were out for their Fall break. There were crowds everywhere. I happened to be with my sister from TN and her kids. We ran into TN folks everywhere!
I think a friend of mine would go on Thanksgiving Day. Her sister worked at Disney World, so they could get in at special rates on really weird days. She said that there were no lines at any of the rides. I know that doesn't help you since you are trying to get to FL before June.
I would try to go before it gets unbelievably hot. I do think that late February and in the middle of the week might be your best bet. Once March comes around then there will be Spring Break vacationers which mean that hotels and motels will be filled with college students and high school folks. Just avoid the weekend of February 15-18 (President's Day weekend). Also May might not be too bad since most Spring Break folks will be gone. You would want to do it early May to avoid schools getting out in the middle of May.
