Question for a friend: have considered Eta Sigma Alpha, the homeschool National Honor Society? (m)

Friend is questioning the step into homeschooling the high school years. We often discuss curricular material, sports, social opportunities. What about things like the National Honor Society? She wondered if her daughter's transcript would appear deficient without something like this.

It had never occurred to me to pursue this option. My son's transcript seems so full of other things that I cannot imagine this distinction enhancing it. Am I missing something? My memory is also vague from my own high school years. I remember wearing a gold cord at my high school graduation--wasn't that a National Honor Society distinction? Pat on the back, but was it that important?
