PSAT prep: can you point me to previous posts?

I know you guys have hashed and rehashed this topic, but I can't figure out how to search the board for old posts on prepping for the PSAT (when I searched, it just pointed me to the College Board website for the most part). Right now we're planning to spend time on the College Board website, but I'd like to hear from those of you who've gone through the whole process as to the best way to approach preparation.

One specific question I have is this: is there an essay portion on the PSAT?
